About us

A calmer way to drink enough water

Water Reminder is made by Ibtikar Al Ula, an app company. Here is why we built it, what we promised ourselves, and how we write for you.

Why Water Reminder exists

You probably know the scene. It's late afternoon, a dull headache is starting behind your eyes, and the glass you poured this morning is still full on your desk. Nobody forgets water on purpose. The day simply fills up, and drinking slips through the gaps.

We didn't want to build one more app that buzzes every hour until you mute it. We wanted something closer to a thoughtful friend: one that knows when your day starts and ends, speaks up at the right moment, and then leaves you alone.

So we built it around a few promises.

What we promised ourselves

  • A goal made for you

Not one number for everyone. Your goal comes from your body, how active you are and the weather where you live.

  • Reminders that respect your day

You set your waking and sleeping hours and how often you hear from us. At night, the app stays quiet.

  • Your data stays yours

Your health data lives on your phone by default. Cloud sync is optional and encrypted, and we never sell health data.

  • Every drink counts

Coffee, tea, juice and 150+ other drinks, each counted by its own hydration factor.

  • Wherever you are

iPhone, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS, so logging a glass takes a second.

  • Small wins that add up

Streaks, achievements and gentle challenges, because habits grow from small steps you can see.

Why a blog?

An app can remind you to drink. It can't explain why your needs change in a heatwave, whether coffee counts, or how long before bed to stop. We started this blog to answer those questions properly: in plain words, with the evidence linked. And when a number can be worked out, we build a tool for it, like our water intake calculator.

How we write

  • We start from primary sources (studies, health authorities and clinical guidance) and link them in every article.
  • We check each claim against its source before an article goes live.
  • We use AI tools to help draft some articles, and we say so at the end of each one.
  • When we get something wrong, we fix it. Tell us at info@ibtikaralula.com.

What we are not

Water Reminder is a tool for building a habit. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you have a heart, kidney or other condition that affects how much you should drink, your doctor's advice comes first.

Where to find us

On the App Store the app is called Water Tracker & Drink Alert, and on Google Play Water Reminder & Tracker. Same app, same team. You can also see the company and its other apps at ibtikaralula.com.
