This policy explains how Water Reminder, developed by Ibtikar Al Ula for Information Technology and E-Marketing Co. Ltd., handles your data when you use the app on your phone, your watch and its widgets.
In short
- The app works without an account. What you enter and the drinks you log are saved on your device.
- Signing in with Google or Apple is optional. If you sign in and have Premium, cloud sync keeps a copy of your data in your account on Google Firebase servers in the European Union (Frankfurt) so it appears on your other devices. You can turn it off in Settings.
- With your permission, the app writes your drinks to Health Connect or Apple Health. It never reads your health data.
- No ads, no advertising identifier, and we never sell your data.
- We use anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to fix errors and improve the app.
- Subscriptions are paid through Google Play or the App Store. We never receive your card details.
Data we collect
What you enter in the app
To calculate your daily goal and schedule your reminders, the app asks for:
- Your name (optional, used to greet you and in reminders).
- Sex, age, weight and height.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding status (optional).
- Activity level, climate, wake-up time and bedtime, and your preferred units.
The app also keeps the drinks you log, your custom drinks, your daily goals, your challenges and achievements, and your reminder and display settings.
All of this is stored in a database on your device. It leaves your device only in the cases described below: cloud sync, Health Connect or Apple Health, and your watch.
Your account (optional)
You can sign in with Google or with Apple through Firebase Authentication (Google). We receive:
- Google: your email address, your name, a link to your profile picture and an account identifier. The app does not use or show the picture.
- Apple: an account identifier and an email address, which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email.
We never receive your password. We use the account only to identify your synced data and your subscription across your devices. When you sign out, the data on your device stays unless you choose to delete it, and your cloud copy is kept.
Cloud sync (optional, Premium)
When you are signed in, have Premium and sync is on, the app copies the following to your account in Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase), stored in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany):
- Your profile: name, sex, birth date or age, weight, height, pregnancy and breastfeeding status, activity level, climate, wake-up time and bedtime, units and goal settings.
- The drinks you log, your custom drinks, your daily goals, your challenge progress and your achievements.
- For each of your devices: the platform (Android or iOS), the app version and the time of the last sync.
Only your account can read or change this data. You can turn sync off at any time in Settings. If your Premium ends, sync pauses and nothing is deleted.
Health Connect and Apple Health (optional)
If you allow it, the app writes each drink you log to Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS): the amount of water, and for drinks that contain them, caffeine, sugar and calories.
- The app only writes. It never reads your health data, including the data of other apps.
- Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties.
- You can withdraw this permission at any time in Health Connect or in the Health app.
Your watch
If you use the Wear OS or Apple Watch app, your goal, today's progress and the drinks you log on the watch pass between your phone and your watch through the system connection (Wear OS Data Layer or Apple WatchConnectivity). We do not receive this data.
Usage statistics
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used, for example which screens are opened, when a drink is logged, how reminders perform and how the Premium screen is used. With these events Google receives the device model, the operating system and app versions, the language and country, and a random app-instance identifier. Google Analytics also estimates an approximate area (country or city) from the connection's IP address, for statistics only; the app never asks for or reads your device's location.
- The statistics are not linked to your name, your email or your account.
- We have turned off the collection of the advertising identifier.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, it sends a report through Firebase Crashlytics (Google): the device model, the operating system and app versions, and technical details of the error. Reports do not contain the drinks you log or your profile.
App settings from our servers
The app downloads its settings (for example, which features are on) through Firebase Remote Config (Google), which uses a random installation identifier.
Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases are made through Google Play or the App Store, which process the payment. We manage subscriptions with RevenueCat, which receives:
- Your purchase and subscription records from the store.
- A random identifier, or your account identifier if you are signed in.
- The device type, the app version and the app-instance identifier used for statistics.
We never receive your card details. We only learn which plan you have and when it renews or ends.
Messages you send us
If you send feedback or a support request, we receive your email address and the content of your message.
What we do not collect
- Your precise (GPS) location, contacts, photos or files.
- Health data from Health Connect, Apple Health or other apps.
- Your advertising identifier.
- Your passwords or payment details.
How we use data
- To calculate your daily goal, schedule your reminders and show your progress, statistics and challenges.
- To sync your data between your devices when you choose to.
- To provide Premium and to restore your purchases.
- To fix crashes and improve the app through aggregate statistics.
- To answer your messages.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only in these cases:
- Google (Firebase): sign-in, cloud sync storage in Frankfurt, usage statistics, crash reports and app settings.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases.
- Google Play: purchases on Android.
- RevenueCat: subscription management.
- Health Connect or Apple Health: only the drinks you allow the app to write, on your device.
- When required by law or a competent authority.
Some of these providers may process data in the United States or other countries, under their own privacy policies and appropriate safeguards.
Retention
- Data on your device: stays until you delete it (Settings, then Delete Account) or uninstall the app. Deleting keeps only what restores your purchases and a random identifier for this installation; neither is personal data.
- Your account and cloud sync data: kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete it. When you delete your account, we delete it and the data synced to it.
- Usage statistics: kept by Google Analytics for a limited period, 14 months at most.
- Crash reports: kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days.
- Purchase records: kept by the stores and RevenueCat as long as needed for your subscription, accounting and legal obligations.
Security
- Data travels between the app and the servers over encrypted connections.
- Cloud data is protected by rules that allow each account to reach its own data only.
- Data on your device stays inside the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
Your rights
You can view and edit your information in the app at any time, and delete it from Settings (Delete Account). You may also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its processing: email info@ibtikaralula.com. We will reply within 30 days.
Deleting your account and data
- In the app: Settings › Delete Account deletes your account and its cloud copy (if you are signed in) and, unless you choose to keep it, your data on this device.
- Without the app: follow the steps at water-reminder.app/delete-account, or email info@ibtikaralula.com. We delete your account and its cloud data within 30 days.
- Purchase records stay with the stores and RevenueCat, as described under Retention.
Health notice
Water Reminder is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Your goal is an estimate based on your answers. Follow your doctor's advice, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding or if you have a health condition.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you learn that a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will publish the new version here with its date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
